ok so I got looking though my old pictures today and came across a picture of the Dark Patched Pied female gerbil I had found in a pet store once. I was wondering how many people have had DPP? and if they bred it and if they produced more? I bred my lilac DPP I can't remember with what colour. The first generation had no DPP but I bred back to the mother and got 1 possibly 2 pup's who were DPP. This was the time I was getting out of gerbils or I would of tried to breed more. Now I want to know what everyone else had for DPP and any info on them. -Ashley Dixie My Dark Patched Pied Lilac

I Picked up a DPP Male from a breeder in Washington. He ended up going to Cheam gerbils and being a Dad to many pups, I believe a couple were Dark Patched.

Just a Siamese with an odd molt, I think, since it's not spotted.

Oops, correction, the pup shown was not Gumba's daughter, but she was born at about the time I got him and was breeding him. She was out of my original line and just popped up spontaneously.

My opinion; I don't see a dark point in Gumba, only a spot where all ticking has gathered so not a miracle. His daughter too has just darker spot where all the colour has gathered. Jan's gerbil is a "normal" siamese with wrong markings. Sprite and Chip just have clearer black area where the white pattern hasn't lighten it. Splodge, a lesser hair? looks like the skin glows behind. But I loved kanadadianana's gerbil

Is this gerbil a DPP? What do you think?

Yes Sirius, they are all DP. The patch didn't change over time. It is an area where the spotting dilution doesn't cover the original shade of the fur. In Gumba since he is a Nutmeg the lightness and spotting dilution made the ticking lighter all over except the two dark patches (one on his nose, one on his side). Symphonic, are you sure Splodge isn't pied? He's dove, right? He is so light, he looks to me like a very light pied dove. I can see the colour on his neck is a little lighter than on his back. I had a girl that was a pied dove and she was so light she was to all intents and purposes a white gerbil. Candemat it could be a dark patched spotted if it doesn't go away ever. Wow, some lovely DP Gerbils!

and sirius... kanadadianana's gerbil has a dak spot just like mine does, only hers is on her head, ya say "Sprite and Chip just have clearer black area where the white pattern hasn't lighten it." well surely that would be the same in the first pic posted ? :S
