I made a bit search and revealed that your DP is our mottled and your mottled is our variegated Language and nationality brings always some funny things I hope you can understand me. Here's a pics from "lilac dpp" (our mottled) And a pictures of "mottled" (our variegated) i48.photobucket.com/albums/f226/Vidu76/Junnupieni.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f226/Vidu76/Raitatiineen7pieni.jpgI don't even talk about spotted ones We have 5, white bellies (agouti etc) have collared or white spotted, non-white bellis (black etc) have pied, patched and variegated. (ofc this mottled but it's not a spot is a "error".

your "mottled" (your variegated) gerbils look almost extream white spotted. I love the DPP gerbil such a nice patch of dark on it!

Orangepenguin-- It's hard to tell whether Chip is a DP, since the suspected dark patch runs off the edge of the picture.
Sirius-- Are our DP's more common where you are, then, to have a class all their own?

Yes, I'd say that looks defined enough to be a DP. Is she pregnant, or just chubby?

I just write it into the pedigrees as part of the colour. It is interesting to take note of just in case future offspring have a slightly higher tendency to show them. Though I never saw any more other than those in my gerbils. But definitely worth keeping an eye out for them! They can be lovely, especially in mottleds!
