Mine don't need clapping to jump...some of them spook at *each other*. It's hilarious when one of the trio jumps off the shelf in her tank, Petie sees the movement and runs for cover, her running sets off the boys, and so on. A gerbil chain reaction. ;D
I have no idea how Cheesmans survive in the wild because Karus will run if something startles him and then come back out a few seconds later and come back to check what it was! lol

Do you think that your Trio are delibratly winding your boys up? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I'm sure gerbils have a extreamyly good sence of humor...

Nah, can't be... Petie runs when she sees anything move (she's hyperactive). The trio (particularly Suna) like to stamp whenever someone goes past the tank (if they hear the sunny seed packet rustle, the stamping miraculously stops, lol). Mesieth generally reacts to the others, but Kaole doesn't always (he tends to look bewildered, lol). And yes, gerbils have a sense of humour...Mesieth jumped out of his tank the other day and when he saw me coming back with Kaole, he hurriedly jumped back in! And then looked innocent. I thought he couldn't get out because it was glass and I'd watched him try and fail to get out for a good ten minutes before. But with gerbils, it's always the unexpected... Kaole did the same thing to me earlier today. Two bits of good news, too. 1) I have a new Perfecto tank (30 x 12 x 15, so about a 20 gallon). The trio go in next Friday which is when the next full tank cleanout is due. 2) Mum's agreed to me getting a companion for Karus IF there's one available at the Enfield show and IF I'm keeping up with college okay (the show is in October). I let him use his charm on her, lol. As long as he treats other gerbils like he treats people, it should be okay. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
