Hi I just got two Gerbils yesterday, and they both also like to nip at me!!! I can't seem to find sunflower seeds in the mix I bought with the Gerbils. What can I feed them to persuade them to like me? Paws

You could try any of the cereals that aren't sugar-coated. Mine like Shreddies and puffed wheat cereals. It couldn't hurt to try. Mine also like the crispy bisquits that come in some gerbil mixes. You could just try putting their food mix in your hand and see if they jump into it.

I tried the food mix. I don't think they like it so much. Since today is a monday, I'll try to find some Rice Crispies (Are they Okay?). Another Question.... Yesterday we had some small children at our house, they wanted to tap the Gerbils tank... I know that fish hate it, but will it bother the GErbils?

I wouldn't tap the tank, I'm sure it bothers them. It would be better to wait until they stop nipping and just let the little ones stick their hands in to let the gerbils sniff. Rice crispies is another good one, although I don't think many of my gerbs like it. They're really fond of the puffed wheat.

And you could buy sunflower seeds in pet shops! There they are ussually sold as bird treats, especially for parror-like birds!

That is true! They do that in everything! Many people get frightened when they gerbils do that and pull their hand back. They bite!!! But that is indeed ot true! When they really bit, you will feel it, and you will probably have a bloody finger (I can tell from experience).
