"Other" Class (Honey Cream, Schimmel, Champagne, Silver Point gerbils) is now open. I will also take entrants who missed the deadlines for the previous three classes: White Belly, Colourpoint, and Self. Please do not include gerbils under 12 weeks old or who have any degree of spotting. Our next few classes will cover them.
Judging will commence June 7th.
Please email me (rogerve@yahoo.com) your unblurry photos (a side view which should include the full tail, and a front view which should include full whiskers and ears).
Make sure to send me the name, sex and age (in months if possible) of your gerbil, your name, and your user name.
It is suggested that you make sure your gerbil is sand bathed and well groomed for the pics so as not to lose points, and a nice background in a complementing colour also does wonders!
Please don't forget to consult the judging criteria at the Forum Virtual Show Guidelines thread.
Also as a reminder, only two gerbils per person allowed in each class.
Good Luck!

Okay! Here goes... Gerbil Forum Virtual Show "Other" Class, Results! This is a nice class with a lot of variety. Some very pretty gerbils here! Diane's 7 month-old female Burmese, HHG's Mona, is a darkly shaded gerbil with good eyes and ears. Her tail is nice and thick, but I can't see much tuft. She has white "knuckle-dusters" and a white "moustache." Her fur is ruffled. Better photography would have helped her to score better! Diane's 29 mo. old female Slate, HHG's Zoey, has very clean (no white) front paws and the slightest moustache. Her coat has a nice dark bluish grey colour especially on top. Eyes a bit round. Good whiskers. Again, better photography would have showed her to better advantage. Kristi's Silvana, an 11 month-old female Champagne, has excellent whiskers but slightly rounded ear tips. She has a nice coat colour but I'd like to see it smoother. Very pretty eyes on this lovely girl! Taiser's Mushroom Sorbet is an 18 month-old Nutmeg male. He has a beautiful golden gleam in his eye! His coat colour is very rich. Good tail with a slight tuft, His ears seem a bit long, and his coat is ruffled. It's difficult to snap a Nutmeg with a perfectly smooth coat, isn't it! Very nice boy. Kristi's Black Eyed White gerbil Cheam's Cori is a stunner, with perfectly white fur all over and almond-shaped black eyes. Her coat condition is very good, ears and nose a bit long, but a very nice tail and good tuft. She has really long whiskers! Third Placement: Taiser's Vanilla Ice is an 18 month-old male Ivory Cream with extremely soft looking fur in a rich, even cream colour. Good eyes, ears and whiskers! Would love to see this one in the flesh, as Ivory Creams are not that common. Very nice! Second Placement: Mel's Tom, a 33 month-old male Lilac is in great condition for his age! He has a remarkable shade of fur, and the coat sparkles with health. The colour is very even. He has good bulk for a male, nice eyes, ears and whiskers. Would like to see a bit more tail tuft! First Placement: Kristi's Light Polar Fox female gerbil, Cheam's Albany, is a very young 3 month old with beautiful, gently tinted and silver-tipped fur. She has very dainty, well shaped eyes, ears and whiskers. Her tail displays a beautiful tuft, and she has great potential! A very sweet little girl. Congratulations everyone!

YAY! Way to go! A little surprised Silvana didn't do better... she was always my favorite. I cried when she passed... I've only ever cried for two gerbils... and she was one of them Looks like some good gerbils up there!

Thank you so much for giving Tom 2nd place, bless him, unfortunately I lost Tom last week he went down hill suddenly and I found him with his wife, he was such a character and I miss him still. The judging comments on him I thought were spot on I agree he could have done with more tail tuft, bless his little heart but he lives on in all his kids and grand kids.

Well I'm glad his excellent qualities will be passed on. I've only seen that particular shade of lilac a couple times before, all in my own gerbils. It's a very deep colour and quite blue-tinted, which is so pretty. Apparently the depth of the hue of a coat is also determined by modifiers, just like mottling is, and so few breeders pay attention to the depth of the coat colour, particularly as a base colour for dominant spotting. For years now I've been trying to concentrate the modifiers for depth of colour alongside the modifiers for mottling, so that there is a good contrast. But once in a while you get a really nice Lilac or Argente in these lines, that look just like Tom, and it is such a nice side benefit to breeding the mottleds.
