This is something I found a while ago, and modified slightly for what I needed. The original: waltonfeed.com/grain/calc.htmlIt's a spreadsheet designed to help calculate the nutrition information for a finished recipe, a day's worth of food, etc. I didn't need the RDA's and I really just wanted to know the protein and fat percentages, so I modified it slightly, making it great for finding the nutrition information for a homemade mix, a store-bought mix with add-ins, the staple food plus various treats, etc.. I don't claim any of it; the "gerbil version" could probably be improved a lot more, but I'm not so hot with spreadsheets. I just figured I'd share. (Version 1.5 additions) I looked up the recommended amounts of the various minerals/vitamins/etc. for gerbils, so the RDA's are now adjusted for our furry friends. I didn't need "male" and "female" RDA's, so they're now "Adult" and "Breeding" (breeding adults and young pups). And the biggest change: I figured out how to work conditional formulas, so it will now *tell* you if the mix is too low in a certain mineral/vitamin/etc. And it even tells you whether the protein and fat are too low, okay, or too high. *** Edit June 2010 Version 2 is done! I'm going to make instructions for the "gerbil version" when I get a chance. For now, use the instructions included in the download of the original calculator.
I use Microsoft Office Excel, and don't know how to work any comparable non-MS program. If someone wants to make a version of the calculator on a non-MS program, that's fine-- I just don't know how.

Presenting the much improved version 1.5: www.freewebs.com/shootingstargerbils/Gerbil%5Fv%5F1%5F5%5F2003.xlsI looked up the recommended amounts of the various minerals/vitamins/etc. for gerbils, so the RDA's are now adjusted for our furry friends. Arttagboy, consider this another warning. You're getting on the mods' nerves. This is a forum, not a chatroom. People won't be on all the time. And even if they are on, you shouldn't clutter up other people's threads with off-topic posts. [/rant]
You're welcome, guys. It took a bit of effort to get the Calculator working, but it definitely paid off.
Boz- You can change around the order of the "ingredients", add new ones, etc. Just keep in mind that when you change the order, you change which number corresponds to each "ingredient".

Shootingstar is the best peson to ask questions to. Maybe email her? She isn't really on much any more, so PM wouldn't be very effective.
