HELP! I have been using hay/straw with my gerbils for housing ever since i've kept them (about 5 years) but recently i read on a packet of harvest straw; "DO NOT use hay for Hamster or Gerbil bedding - it can damge the food pouches inside their mouths." IS THIS TRUE? Sarah

Companies always put gerbils and hamsters in the same boat, which is ridiculous because that's like putting humans and chimpanzees in the same boat.

Not very ridiculous! Hamster are close relatives of gerbils! Gerbils are more related to hamsters, than to rats and mice! And on the human and chimpanzee.... we share 98% of our genes! Chimpanzees (and bonobos) are even more related to humans than that they are to gorillas, orang utans, or any other primate!
