I found an article today that talks about pet-care-related tax deductions: www.mercurynews.com/science/ci_23020382/many-animal-related-expenses-are-tax-deductibleAccording to the article, if you foster animals (of any kind) from a shelter, you can claim any expenses (food, supplies, medical bills, etc) as charitable contributions. This was passed in a 2011 case by the US Tax Court (now [/i]that[/i] sounds like a barrel of fun!) but this is the first I've heard of it. Good news for foster parents and volunteers of any kind.
