That's a relief! I really hope they don't phase out the original. While the new one is more natural, it's too high in protein to be fed all of the time. Good find, though!

Gerri Gerbil is the staple food now that we can get it in the states and I/they love it!
I throw in a couple Oxbow pellets and am considering adding Higgins Sunburst with the Gerri for variety. Not sure if needed though.
but now: 1 rounded TBSP Gerri 4 Oxbow pellets
scatter it in there!

With my pets I try to balance healthiest with most cost effective, it's a hard thing to do. My gerbils staple diet is about 3/5ths Hartz Bonanza (Only $10 for 4 lbs!), 1/5th Harlan Teklad 2014 blocks (Been using this for rats for MANY years) and 1/5th Oxbow Hamster and Gerbil food. Out of the Hartz I throw out all of the corn kernels and save the pumpkin and sunflower seeds for treats. I make sure they eventually get all of the seeds though to make sure their diet is balanced, but they only get the tasties from my hands or when they are out for play time. I do similar for my cats, twice a day they get 1/3rd cup Taste of the Wild: Rocky Mountain and in a separate ball ( Slimcat™) I put in their junk food, Purina One, so they don't pester me all day and they have to actually work to get the kibbles out.
