I knew I had these somewhere... This is a young Burmese: Compare to two young Siamese molting into their adult coats: MoonstoneGerbils has better comparison pictures, but Siamese is the lightest, Burmese and LCP Slate are similar in color, and CP Slate is much darker. This is a Burmese and an LCP Slate: The two young Siamese that you show in the middle do look a lot like Fiona did. She only had a dark tail, but the rest of her was light. Her darker face and ears didn't happen until she got older. She had a little bit of a darker fur on her face, but it was still a lot lighter than it is now.

I'd agree, from the younger pictures she looks Siamese.

I'd agree, from the younger pictures she looks Siamese. I think so too and from Betty's pictures, her baby Burmese already had brown ears even when it was young. Fiona didn't get her darker ears until she was grown.

Siamese and Burmese can vary quite substantially. Often it can be difficult to distinguish poor burmese from poor siamese. For instance BOTH of these gerbils are siamese, though the difference between them is enough to make you think one if burmese and the other is siamese. There are two pics taken about 3 weeks apart. The darker siamese is your normal variety, the lighter one was selectively bred for. This is the difference between siamese and burmese

Thanks Moonstone! That helped a lot! I do think Fiona must be Siamese then because she did look like your darker Siamese baby in the picture, but still a lot lighter than the Burmese you showed because she didn't have any brown feet. When she was a baby, she just had the darker tail and some slightly darker fur on her snout and face, but the rest of her was lighter. She's darkened up a lot since she's gotten to be an adult and now has the darker ears and face and back feet. But her front paws are still light and her nails are all light.

I've still not decided if Edgar is burmese or siamese so I know how you feel. He looks very similar to Fiona. I have no idea what colour he was when young as he was nearly 6 months old when I adopted him and his brothers.

Sparky, he does look very similar to Fiona! So cute! Maybe the experts here can weigh in and help you figure it out. I don't know what Edgar looked like as a baby, but he still looks fairly light to me. Do you have any other pictures in better light?

Thanks shooting star. It was his black tail that made me unsure as most of the siamese pictures I've seen have had paler/browner tails. Little Bird - Thank. Fiona is a cutie too

A good Siamese should have a very dark tail. The more contrast between the main coat and dark points, the better.

A good Siamese should have a very dark tail. The more contrast between the main coat and dark points, the better. Thanks so much! The one in the picture above looks a lot like Fiona in good lighting with the exception of the back feet. Fiona has darker back feet for some reason. I guess it's just a variation. Obviously, they're all individuals like anybody else. Everyone has been really helpful and I'm happy to finally know what Fiona truly is- my little Siamese girl.
