If you bought your gerbils from a store and not raised yourself or from a breeder, is there any way to really know how old they are? The store clerk told me they were about 3 months but he didn't seem too sure of himself. I'm pretty sure my gerbils are under a year, but is there any way to really know?

If they're still young then it's easier to tell. Once they become an adult, it's difficult to know their exact age. Maybe you could post some photos and someone here might be able to determine their age for you?

I'm wondering the same thing. When I bought mine the person at the pet shop said they were babies. And they have grown quite a lot so they must've been reasonably young but it'd be nice to have a more precise age

It's hard to tell the age of a full-grown gerbil. If you have pictures of your gerbils from when you got them, we might be able to guesstimate how old they were then.

Thanks Crittercrazy! They actually look really similar now to your pics of 5-7 months old, I think there's a big possibility of them being about 3-4 months when I got them
(btw your gerbs are absolutely adorable!!)
