I have my girls in our living room where we spend most of our time. Our girls were just bonded and moved from their 10 gallon "honeymoon"/travel tank back into a now split less 20 gallon standard tank. They still have minimal bedding but will increase to 10" slowly and continually add more items accumulating in getting their topper. Anyway, the tank is on a TV stand/cart that we purchased new at Target for $29. I got baskets at the dollar store to hold supplies. Their foldable homemade cardboard play pen and carpet covering tarp are wedged under the couch. More supplies are kept in between the couch and the end table. I uesed to keep the smaller quantities of bedding, aspen, care fresh and Timothy hay, in the stand also but the last time I purchased these items in bulk (4 cubic feet, 60 liter, and 96 Oz's) so they are kept in our spare room under the bed. Their extra food is stored in the freezer. Anyway I love how their home fits in so beautifully and that they are always a part of our day to day lives.

What do you have up there? Home Depot? Walmart?
They sell them for a higher price at those stores - $60 at Walmart and $40 at Home Depot. They also have them at Target, but I'm not sure of the price. And Ikea makes the famous Expedit units, which were the original storage cubes. They're by a different name now though. I can't exactly remember.

Yes the cheapest I've found was $39.99 at Canadian Tire for one unit! $45 for two would have been awesome!!!

I'm reviving this thread because I finally have moved and my gerbils' area is almost done We painted my room and put up a loft that I got on CL, and I put together one of those bookcases. It's under the loft, near my desk and it's pretty much empty now but the top 3 shelves will hold gerbily things once they get unpacked. The other bookcase actually came broken out of the box so I'm returning it. I don't like the quality very much so I just decided to order something else from Walmart to hold the bigger tank and the hamster cage. It's supposed to be here tomorrow! Well here's the bookcase I set up, and a view of it in relation to my desk. I have Olaf's tank on there so that he'll be around me more (while I'm at the desk) and can maybe get used to me, since I've had a lot of trouble with taming him. The thing I ordered from Walmart is called Better Homes And Gardens 8-Cube Bookcase or something like that, and it's going to be set up on this wall Right now Alvin and Simon are on the back porch until we get the new bookcase set up for them I'm so excited to show you pictures when it's all done!

I'm back again. I finally pretty much finished (for now) my gerbil area of my room. I'll probably be moving and changing things for a while until I find the perfect setup, but for now it works extremely well. Here's the white bookcase all set up, and some Sterilite Ultra Deep storage baskets I got from Walmart ($27 for 6) Here's what's in the bins. From left to right - cleaning supplies & toilet paper which I give the rodents for nesting material, chew toys organized in smaller Sterilite boxes, extra wheels, sand baths, & exercise ball (which is very rarely used), treats for all of my animals, bigger toys such as tunnels & hammocks (for the playpen and/or the hamster), rabbit toys organized into more of the smaller Sterilite boxes I figured I might as well show you where the hamster cage and (very temporary) rabbit cage are: & for now, until I find a better place, all the pet food is kept in a crate on top of the table. I know it's nothing like what I originally planned but I really like the way it's coming along. My new room is actually the same size as, if not smaller than, my old room, but I'm making everything fit a lot better. I actually love the white bookcase so much that I ordered another one to put on the opposite wall, and more bins. I'm actually not entirely sure what I'm going to store in it but it will look nice and offer more places to put more tanks or cages
