Monday morning I had the gerbils in a Kritter Keeper while I cleaned out the tank. The adults managed to get the top off, jump out and tip it. One of the pups crawled out and fell. He has seemed fine though, running around, jumping, active, eating, alert.. But this was the pup to last open his eyes, and he didn't even have the left one open yet. (It's opened since then) But I noticed that whenever he wakes up, he's walking around with the left eye shut for a little while before opening it. None of the others are doing that. It's like his eye is getting stuck shut, but it looks fine. Then when he finally opens it, it's kind of half shut for a few minutes, then it's fully open. It's clear, nothing coming out.. Could it maybe have anything to do with him falling?

Maybe he has weaker mussles in his eye lids! I think that will improve when he gets older.
I have had once an old female that has had an seizure and was paralyzed at one side of her face. Her eye was every day stuck shut, and I had to open and clean the eye every day. But I'm sure that this is not the case with you, because his eye is not dirty!

Hi,
I've had the same problem with a couple of pups. The best thing you can do is wet a cotton bud with luke warm water and rub it over his eye. Do not do this when his eye is open!! I think it's just much the same as the way our eyes get stuck sometimes when we wake up. It should be fine in a couple of days.
