I've just given my gerbils some fresh grass from the garden for the first time and they love it! They are eating there way through it now. Has anyone else ever given there gerbils grass and did they like it? I washed and froze it first just to make sure it didn't have any bugs in it then defrosted it and put a bit in there tank. www.flickr.com/photos/118690863@N07/14511092652/

Glad your gerbils enjoyed it.

I've been looking at a plant growing kit that I think gerbils will like. Its supposed to be for cats. Its a kit to grow oat grass. I am slightly hesitant to give the grass from outside as neighbours are all around me and I can't be sure what they've put on their lawns...I don't want to risk pesticide run off. So do you think the oat grass would be an ok substitute?

It should be fine. My gerbils don't eat the grass I give them. They tend to treat it the same as hay. More something to chew up then actual food.

Mine love wheat grass. I'll be growing oat, wheat, and another type of grass(currently escapes me) here soon.

Cat grass seems like a smart idea! I wouldn't trust my grass outside either. My only problem is I don't want to be stuck with a thing of grass if my guys refuse to eat it. Although they do love dandelions.
