Hello,
I am worried that Max might be constipated. There have been small dry poops for the last week, and then I'm pretty sure he didn't poop at all last night. He is eating less than usual since his cage mate died, but he is still eating, and I have evidence that he ate last night, so he should be going to the bathroom a bit. I called the vet for advice but was reluctant to bring him in as he has been very stressed since his cagemate died and going to the vet is another stressful event. I was told to watch him over the weekend and bring him in on Monday if there are no changes.
So any suggestions for home remedies to help improve the situation? He is drinking the normal amount of water as far as I can tell.

Have you tried offering Max a small piece of his favourite fruit or veg.? I can imagine this might make a difference.

I have been spoiling him since Quint died and I think he's had a small piece of fruit or veg nearly every day. I believe I gave him 3 fresh peas last night.

Thank you for responding! He went this afternoon thank goodness. Still hard and small but at least there isn't a blockage.

I don't know much about gerbils yet, but maybe the extra than normal amount of fresh treats is the culprit? You could try keeping him on his regular diet for a while to see if it helps.
