My aunty let the little girl who lives next door in my room and she left the cage door open by mistake i saw Nutmeg run out of my room just as i realised it was open.. She ran into the bathroom and behind the sink/inside the wall and i could hear her underneath/inside the bath so i took the side panel off but she had gone, that was nearly an hour & a half ago and i havent heard one sound since, she doesnt run if she sees me even when out of cage if i make a sound she comes to me, and definitely would for sunflower seeds but nothing all this time not one sound.. Ive set up a "trap"..box with steps upto it and a towel in and seeds.. But what if shes stuck somewhere inside the house under the floorboards im worried sick i cant stop crying

Oh no! You've done all that you can for now. What's the construction of your house like? Is it an apartment building, two attached houses, or a standalone house? Is there a room, crawlspace, or basement underneath the area where your gerbil escaped? What's on the other side of that wall - another bath or a kitchen? She's somewhere inside the bathroon wall/floors, so that means the only way out is likely through the plumbing cutouts in that wall. I'd set up traps containing a very small amount of treats on both sides of that wall. Use something with a strong, irresistible odor like bits of cookies, potato chips, or bacon. Count the treats so you will know if they've been eaten. Be patient and good luck!

I retrieved my loss hamster years ago with a "have a heart" trap with peanut butter inside. It is unlikely that your gerbil is stuck. If she could get in, she can probably get out. It was over a day before the hamster found his way into the trap. Good luck.

That happened to one of mine and it was out of the cage for about 3 days, I could hear it running in the floorboards very often, I know its horrible but here's what happened with me - all I could do was leave bits of food on the floor in different parts of the house and listen out for it, on the third day I heard rustling of bags in the kitchen!! So I quickly closed the doors and blocked up the gap it got lost in orignlly and caught it under bucket which took ages, it was very fast even after 3 days Also it was very thirsty when it got back in the cage, so is there a way you can leave water out for it? Like soaked paper towels or a cloth or a small container of water? The bags had the woodshavings and hay packaging that were open so I think it was trying to get back to the cage -thinking that was the cage so that would be an idea too If you want to know any thing else about how I got mine back you can ask

Thankyou, that gives me a lil hope. I have been feelin kinda hopeless the past few hours as i havent heard one scratch or gnawing sound at all.. And the sunflower seed on the floor of each room is still there We live in a house with 2 houses attached both sides-(a few monthes ago we all had mice in our houses which started because my neighbours cat kept bringing them in) so i PRAY my girl doesnt go nextdoor and get lost-plus they have two dogs Under the bath is one hole which she would of gone through and it leads to under the floor on my landing at the top of the stairs, we dont have carpet laid upstairs yet so ive pulled up a few floorboards and put seeds out but still nothing been taken. Ill leave a couple of little lids which she can drink from if shes even still around Thanks for ur replies xx

:(maybe you should tell next door to keep a look out and listen for it. Sorry you can't hear it, at least I could hear mine although there were times where it went quiet. At least you can pull up the floorboards, there was one tiny hole that mine got into the floorboards from and I just had to wait for it to find its way out. Mine was still Ok after 3 days and I was pretty convinced I wouldn't see it again to be honest, hopefully you'll find yours

Don't give up and am sending positive thoughts you will find Nutmeg. I hope you are getting help to find her and you will hear her soon and have her back. How are her sisters' doing? just leave treats and find someway to make a trap that is safe, if you see her running out free, throw a blanket over her to make it easier to catch her. Good luck.
Take care,
Tammy

Couldnt sleep all night! Not one sound, and none of the seeds have been touched even the ones under the floorboards and under the bath its not looking good x this is awful her sisters faces looked totally different about an hour after it happened..they just sat huddled together in the sandbath looking very strange, awake but didnt move! They seem okay now though..

Don't give up hope, sometimes runaway rodents can turn up again days or even weeks later, I would keep putting food out for her and traps to see if she turns up agin. I really hope she does.

Yeah same, don't give up, she could still turn up. I'd keep leaving food and water around for at least a few days. Is that a picture of her? She looks exactly like my gerbil that escaped!!

A sunflower seed from under the bath (by the hole she got out) has gone!! Not heard anything though! Ive left water and food in a few places. A big humane trap is coming tomorrow so il leave that out with some bedding in too. fingers crossed i dont catch a mouse instead! :/
And yes that is a pic of her xx

That's a good sign! I bet she's out there having the time of her life, exploring and now that she knows they're there, eating sunflower seeds! Don't give up and hopefully you'll find your little girl soon!
