My girls Gidget and Shiloh were in a cage inside a tank split for 6 weeks, and today they finally bonded. I have removed the split and they are sleeping peacefully in the same nest as I type. They have been in a 10 gallon all this time, and I am excited to upgrade them to a 20, and give them their wheel, a house, and all that jazz. My question is what sort of timeline or tips do you have to upgrading and reintroducing items to them? Is there such a thing as too many or too few items? For example, would one wooden house cause a squabble, or would two wooden houses cause a squabble? Etc. Is a wooden house even a good idea? I know to add lots of cardboard and bedding for burrowing, and I scatter feed all of my rodents. I have heard that too big a space can cause fights, and I've heard not to let there be division in it. Does that mean no levels? I don't want to cause any fights.

I just had the same - paired up 2 old sisters and one was way more dominant than the other. I had put in a new medium bendy sticks, but it was on 'her' side (the side she was last in before I took the split out) so she started to 'rule' it, so I just took it out. They have slept together for 2 nights now just in the general ground fluff. I won't plan to put in the big tunnel again for at least another week. And I won't move them to another tank for at least a month - and when I do it will be with all their bedding...
My motto is nice and slow. I would rather they were together in a slightly bald-looking smaller tank than alone in a bigger one. Each case is different though - I suppose you just have to watch them.
And 2 houses is definitely a NO - according to all comments on here.

Thank you Betty! That makes sense, sense they are supposed to be sleeping together anyway. I will take it slow, but I am so just so excited for them.

I know - it is always a great feeling when they snuggle together for the first time.
Not only did the introductions all work out peacefully - but they finally have a new friend to cuddle up with! No more lonely nights...
