I've been given meds for my gerbils irritation to the eyes and mouth. I cut it up into pieces smaller than a pea! Anyways, she shares a cage with her cage mate and doesn't eat until the early hours in the morning.
The vet said separate them but I don't wanna because they've had a fight where blood was drawn in the past and they managed to become friends again WITHOUT split caging method.
She won't take anything to eat with the meds, I've tried everything from baby food, yogurt, watered bread and loads more. We've started restraining her and putting it down ourselves but she spits it back out ( it sounds horrible, I know, but I want to recover )!
Any ideas?

would she eat if you just took her out and put her in another cage or box for a short time to make sure she gets the meds.? Whatever her fave treat may work to put it on there. could you ask the vet for a med. that may work that is topical?

She doesn't eat anything in any other cage unless her cage mate is in there. She eats at early hours in the morning so I can't monitor them. Also, i'm planning on taking her back the the vet soon.

I have had luck recently with putting meds (Baytril and Metcam) on finely chopped pumpkin seed and sunflower seed, on a spoon, and also the big favourite was hemp hearts. He gobbled it up but I had no luck with anything sweet at all. I hope this helps - good luck!
