So my breeding pair, Kahla (pied agouti) and Gryff (nutmeg), after a successful breeding had their first little April 8th. They had a big litter of 9 pups. All are doing well and the wonderful couple are great as parents. I wasn't too sure on what to expect with colours as I didn't have any idea on the full genetics of the parents. A bit of a surprise with this little. At least one of the pink pups looks like it could have red/pink eyes. Can't wait to see the fuzz comes in and have more of an idea on colours.
Here are two pictures of them. They are three days old (taken today). (sorry the pictures aren't the best.)

What a nice big litter. I have never had 9 from any of mine.
I'm not very good at pinkie colours from pictures, but I wouldn't be surprised if all the dark ones were Agouti, and your pink eye was an Argente. You could have genes for many more colours of course.

It looks like all of the still-pink pups have red eyes.

It looks like all of the still-pink pups have red eyes. Cool, thanks. I'm still learning with the colours and some did look pretty dark.

So pups are 6 days old, so some new pictures. All are still doing well, two are piggies with nursing and then I have a few small ones. I didn't get a good picture of just the dark colours, but hopefully, maybe we can really start playing the guessing game of colours for all. With the light colours I know one for sure is pied and I think there is one that is spotted. And is that a Lilac I see? All nine: The four "light" ones:

So babies are about 2 1/2 weeks old now and moving. They all have at least one eye open and I think one or two have both eyes opened. I'm thinking that I have 4 females and 5 males, though a week and a bit ago I thought I had 2 females and 7 males. We will see if that changes. I know the pictures aren't the best, but here they are.

Lovely family.
Unless I check the nipples when they are pinkies, (which I rarely ever do) I can't always 100% sex them until they are over 4 weeks, and even then a runt male can catch me out.... I think it takes a lot of practice...

I think it takes a lot of practice... Thanks. That's what happened to me. The two smallest, the Agouti and one of the pied blacks, seem to have swapped genders, though I'm still not totally sure if the pied black has swapped genders.
