Thanks again everyone for all the support & good wishes. Gizmo seems to be improving a little more - she's moving the leg although still favouring it & only limited weight bearing. But the pups eyes are still closed so I think she should have around another 2 weeks minimum before the next litter comes along? I'll try to get some pics of Gizmo, Sparky & the babies. We also have Chilli & Pepper (our 2 girls) plus Yogi (a boy who we brought home from the adoption centre a month ago). I'm loving browsing through the forum, learning about colours etc... & seeing everyone else's pics

If the eyes are still closed, then yeah, you should have at least two more weeks till litter two. Their eyes open at around 17-21 days old, and litter two comes when they're weaned, around 4-5 weeks. Will look forward to pictures!!

We've just found we have 1 pup with 1 eye open. Are we safe to leave Sparky (dad) in there with them for around another week? And if we take him out before the pups are old enough to be sexed, will he accept a boy pup back in with him (if we have a boy) once they're weaned?
Sorry for dumb questions!

No need to apologize! When I bred my gerbil several months ago, I had been planning for months and doing all sorts of research, and still had tons of worries and questions! I'm guessing they're just at 17 or 18 days old, in which case, Sparky can certainly stay for a week. If I remember correctly, I didn't remove my father gerbil until the pups were weaned, making it so I could take all the males out with him. But if that doesn't work (your female may start showing too soon for that) than yes, it should be quite easy to put a pup in with Dad.
