Can anyone help with sexing our babies - they all look like girls to me! They'll be 4 weeks old on Sunday so I'm not sure whether it's too early to tell? Thanks in advance for any help. Grey Agouti Agouti Spotted Agouti Very slightly Spotted Agouti

This is a difficult age to sex them at, especially from pictures. I would hazard a guess at boy, girl, boy, .

Thanks for that. Mum isn't swelling yet so hopefully we can leave them all together long enough to be able to tell for sure & then move dad & any boys out at the same time.

I tried hopelessly to sex 4 of my pups around the same age - every time I looked, I couldn't tell them apart - I was thinking 'why don't they look different enough this time?'
Then at 5 weeks - all their testicles dropped - 4 boys!

It might be a bit difficult but you can pick through their fur on their belly and see if you can find any teats.
But yes I do agree, it's a difficult age to sex them at :/ (The second one looks like it might be a girl though)

I wouldn't count on mom *looking* pregnant to move dad out. Some girls don't show until immediately before, and it's easy to miss. If you're not sure which pups are boys, just leave all the pups with mom until you are sure. Dad will almost certainly accept them in a week or two with minimal fuss.

Dad is coming out of the tank in the morning. We'll just have to give him plenty of attention, toys & toilet roll tubes to keep him occupied until we can see if we have any boys to put with him. One thing I have noticed is that Mum has been snoozing on her own in a different corner of the tank a couple of times today. Is this just her way of weaning the pups off her or could it mean something else - like she's getting ready for her 2nd litter coming?

I am in a very similar situation t1gg3er! Our pups will be 4 weeks old in a day or two, and I am trying to gauge when the next babies will come. Our momma has been sleeping a lot, and seems a little bigger so maybe it is coming soon... I need to separate mine, but have to wait on a water bottle holder that shipped today! Crossing my fingers that the timing works out ok! we have 7 pups and I have yet to sex them... And good luck to you also

And good luck to you also Sounds like your next litter will be here before ours - Gizzy isn't showing at all yet, I'm not even convinced there'll be another litter which would be fine so long as we have a mix of sexes in this one. We took Sparky (dad) out of the tank 2 days ago & I've never felt so cruel in all my life. Gizzy & the babies were clearly looking for him & he looked so forlorn on his own They've all settled now though. I just hope we can sex the babies soon so we can put a son or two in with him before he forgets them. I'm not sure whether it's the right thing to do but I've put a little of their bedding in with him & keep rubbing my hands in their tank before handling Sparky in the hope the scent stays familiar to him. He doesn't seem to have any objections so far. Good luck with your next litter - hope your bottle holder arrives before the babies do!

Quick update - I've managed to identify 1 definite boy (the grey agouti) so popped him in with dad. A quick sniff of each other & the baby immediately started climbing all over him before they snuggled down together. It's so lovely to see Sparky looking happy again. Keeping with a comic book theme, we've decided to name the baby Beano That was yesterday so I'll check the other 3 again tomorrow to see if there are any more boys.

Gizzy's tum seem to look more solid although that may be due to eating She doesn't look visibly pregnant. Babies are now 4 weeks 4 days so we've just taken more pics of the 3 I still can't make my mind up with & I'm about to post them to see if anyone can help. We go away for a week on Saturday leaving our 19yr old in charge so I'd really like to have the right pups with the right parent before then if poss.
