What are the best food supplements to give to a skinny gerbil? When I had guinea pigs, a vet recommended ensure when the pig had been sick and lost weight. Can I give ensure to my gerbil or is something else better. ?
I believe that he got thin because the dominant gerbil was hogging the food. I am now putting the skinny one in their playpen first and giving him food separately but I would like to give him some supplements also. Thank you.

Sorry daisy, we seemed to have missed you on this thread - has your question been answered elsewhere or is your gerbil still underweight?
I hope your stealth feeding tactics have paid off?

Ok, I'm not sure about this but at least to my Dazy she got rather thin lately don't know why but I bought some gourmet bonanza food from petco also some mealworms witch she just loves I give her one meal worm per day, and for the last couple of days she seem's to have gained some weight she doesn't seem as skinny as the past week. the new bonanza food contains lots of dried fruit nuts and a 12% protein and the meal worms are very high in protein.

That's good that she looks to have improved.
Did you ever actually weigh the little mite? That way it will help you to keep a close eye on things rather than sort of guessing 'up or down'.
