I live in a house which is technically not allowed pets but we kept the gerbils from our old flat and we couldn't just give them away so we kept them. The only problem is, every time we have a house inspection, the gerbils can't be there. For the first few inspections we have packed up the enclosure and taken them to my nan's house but I always worry about them because my nan has cats and obviously they're kept in a different room but cats are cunning and it's a real pain to pack everything up every few weeks. Any suggestions?

Hopefully I'm not too late.
Any large cupboards/closets you can clear out temporarily? We've had the same issue in the past and now. In the past we put them in a wardrobe shortly before inspection, now we have a large walk-in wardrobe/cupboard that we put them in behind boxes just in case the inspection person decides to open the cupboard (which they really shouldn't without reason/permission as it's invading privacy, but they have opened other cupboards without permission before so...). Inspections should be pretty short so being in a cupboard for a while shouldn't do any harm to your gerbils.
Also, your inspections are every few weeks? That seems extreme, I don't know where you live but in the UK every 3 months is the standard.

Do you have a shed or somewhere the landlord doesn't need to go?
