Help my two male gerbils are looking really fat. How do you weigh gerbils I dont know what to do. Does this look fat or is it just they are getting older?

What food are you feeding them(brand)? a kitchen scale with grams and a dish(some come with it), put in a treat. Can't really tell by the pics, do they use a wheel and are active?

They do look a little chunky even for males, since it is summer they should have a lighter thinner coat.

Hmm sunflower seeds are an important part of a gerbils diet, unless there is an excessive amount (in which you should probably try another brand) then you should probably leave some in.

I think your scale isn't very accurate, two ounces (about 56 grams) for a male gerbil is very light. How old are they? If they're under a year, thats understandable, if they're older, I'd say 2 1/2 (about 70 grams) to 3 1/2 (about 99 grams, chunky) ounces is good.

One of my gerbils looks like that in the picture, and yet later on in the day, they lose weight. My gerbil has lived quite a long time and has continually done this, do your gerbils do the same?

They'll go through a lot of weight changes (little ones) while they are growing up.

They'll go through a lot of weight changes (little ones) while they are growing up. I think it might be down to that. Maybe put in a little less food for a while but make sure they are still getting food.
