My gerbil has been doing beige colored poops recently, he eats a mix of seeds, nuts and gerbil food, I don't think the food is the reason because I haven't given him anything new. He's eating and drinking normally and still doing his gerbily things, but I noticed he is drinking a little more than usual and also pooping more. Any ideas of what could be causing it? I have attached a picture of the poop [a hr[a href="http:// "]link[/a]

Looks very dry but pretty normal color as gerbil droppings go. Give him more veggies and fruits and that should clear it up. He may be having discomfort going to the bathroom also if his droppings are dry and hard. Is he urinating normally and normal color?

Yes he is urinating normally, it's a normal color. I thought a normal color for gerbil poop is dark brown, so I thought it was strange that his poop was very light in color because iv'e never seen gerbil poop this color before and my other gerbils all have dark brown poop.

Dark brown is normal but the color can vary. My gerbils have had light beige to close to black. Also if the droppings are old, they will be lighter. Try looking at a very fresh dropping to see if the color is different
