I can't access my old account gerbilforum.proboards.com/user/1583 and can't remember what email or password I used. I did used to have gerbils but have a dog now. Some may remember my dog had separation anxiety, he got better at that, but he won't let me leave if I don't tickle his belly - that's his compromise. Lol He is 8 now (I got him when he was 4) and has a few health issues (which he has seen the vets for) but he doesn't let him get him down. He loves buses and trains, hell try to get on any stopped. He is friendly but if he sees a bus or train stopped, people have no hope of stroking him as his attention is focused on the bus or train! I did a lot of stand up since my last post, though I haven't done it for a while, but I have written enough jokes to do some more so I will be doing it again sometime. I've got a poetry book with my dog Billy on the cover, it's only available as ebook currently but will be available as paperback at some point, hopefully soon, but depends on the publishers schedule. I also have two fiction books later this year, "Worlds Apart" and one I never got round to writing many years ago, "Sterling's Silver". Well I'm getting old now lol I had my 40th birthday in November 2021. My family hired a club room and some friends also came. Since my ex in 2017, I've not dated anybody as I wasn't really over her. People think she now wants me back as she's been mentioning me to people and the things she says but it's far too late now, too much water under the bridge. I do hope she's happy though. In 2022, my birthday fell on a Tuesday, which is the night that a guy hires it weekly, so I went there with my brother and his friend and saw a lot of my friends there as they go every week usually. Somebody there who was only in her twenties asked me out and wasn't taking no for an answer, I had to be a bit blunt and still it didn't work so I said I was interested in somebody else. There is somebody I like, but I'm not really looking for a relationship at the moment, though she is more my age. But anyone it's probably best not to get in any relationships right now because... I'm not sure if I ever mentioned a house I used to live in as a teenager in the Orkney Islands. Well in a few years, I'll be moving back there with my brother, to the exact same house as its still in the family. But it needs a lot of work, hence why it's not for a few years. But we'll be going up this year and doing some work on it. I found a record of somebody living in the house in the 1500's so it's a very old house. Which is what I always expected as it was clear the bathroom was added later than when the house was built, as the bathroom was made of wood. Yep, I did say WAS. Because the bathroom blew down in a bad storm so needs completely rebuilding! The house also needs windows replacing. So it's a long project. Anyway, I'll finish this post here as its getting a bit long.

Hi David, welcome back to the forum. Some interesting stories you have there . I looked at your old account and I noticed, 1. you have the same birthday as me! 2. It's showing me your old email address (as I'm an admin). 3. You registered this account (11-2018)before you last used your old account (6-2019). Anyway, I'll PM you your old email address if you want to go back to your old account (but please don't use both together), you will of course need access to that email address.

I no longer have access to that email but I suddenly remembered that although my display name is with a small d, I registered with a big D at the beginning of my name. I also finally remembered my password. So you can delete that other account if you wish as I no longer need it. I've changed my email address on this account so I have it connected to an email I actually use. Lol

Hi, thanks. I remember you too, I also remember Smokey and Silver gerbil and some others. Not sure what year the house is from, but latest 1500's. I think it's the only one on the island that's several hundred years old that still has the roof intact. We knew it was old but not that old, although when I started volunteering at Ordsall Hall (don't work there now), when I found out about the toilet situations in Tudor times, I did suspect the house could be 1500's or 1600's. Because it was clear the bathroom was added later to the house, due to it being made of wood. There's also another book I'm writing later this year, Arcane's Prophecy - I never got round to completing writing it but decided late last year to finally get round to writing books. But I'm concentrating on a different book for now. Though Arcane's Prophecy may become a trilogy - ill see how I feel when I've finished it, though I do know the ending of at least the first book. Though I may write that in a pen name as I have a feeling it may take off (though I could be wrong) and I have no wish to be famous. How are you doing anyway? Any new gerbils?

Lol No that's ok, it's actually better to leave it so that past posts of yours still have a name attached instead of just 'deleted' member.
Btw, you know you can edit the email of your old account now that you remembered the password? [edit] Ah I see from PMs that's exactly what you did .

Ah I hadn't thought of that that it would say deleted member instead of a name. Yeah I thought I'd better change the email in case I ever forgot my password again. Don't know why I never changed it in the first place as I've not had that for a lot of years.

I'm hanging in there. Tammy 4, that's a good age. Unfortunately my gerbils didn't make it to the 4 year old mark. Happy belated birthday to Sierra. Unusual names but I like them. Truffles is a good name for a cat too. I have a few health issues too, epilepsy that I had since before I was a member of the Gerbil Forum but it took years to get a diagnosis. I found out I had severe sleep apnea but as I was diagnosed at the height of Covid, hospitals were having to use CPAP and BIPAP machines for Covid, due to lack of supplies so I didn't get a CPAP machine for ages and then it turned out I needed a BIPAP machine instead. I'm OK, just get tired a lot. Gave up the cycling I used to do some years back but maybe one day this year I'll start again, maybe not. Lol That reminds me of the time my gerbil travelled by bicycle (obviously not riding it, I was riding it). Lol

With my gerbil Blacky in the 80s, I remember a friend used to bring his over to my place on a bike! And we used just put them both together in a big dig box I made, lucky they got on really! (Probably helped that they were male and female).
Sorry to hear about your health issues.

It's OK, I'm alive and I know people that have it worse, it does get me down sometimes but I try to be positive. The gerbil traveling by bicycle was because of riots as I lived above the Salford Precinct at the time (where they were rioting), I put my gerbil in a little cardboard box, packed his gerbilarium (he was in a tank but I couldn't carry that as it was 6 foot long), put my gerbil and the box in a bag at the front of my bike on the frame (it was a little bag with air at either side) and cycled to my sister's but went a different route to usual so I wouldn't get cornered. As I was cycling, one of the rioters noticed my bag on the handlebars (it had the gerbilarium in) and asked "Did you loot that mate?" One even tried to get my bike but I was expecting it so got away. Once it was safe, I checked on my gerbil - he was fine, he was fast asleep!

Sorry to hear about your health issues, i have some myself(arthritis) but try not to let it get me down. Glad you and your gerbil were okay during your bike ride that day, must've been abit scary. Thanks. Sorry to hear about your health issues too. My dog is only 8 but found out when he was six he has arthritis. Yeah it was a bit scary, the reason I decided to go to my sisters is because where I lived, there was a main door to get into the shopping centre and then a door to get into the block of flats. The rioters had smashed the main door so I was worried they'd get into the block of flats so thought it would be safer to go to my sisters - she also thought the same but my battery on my phone died before I'd set out. Unknown to me, she had text me to warn me not to go the usual route to hers because they had it cornered. But luckily I decided the best route to go would not be the usual route anyway. I never cycled on pavements (unless they were shared bicycle/pedestrian ones where it was allowed), but I made an exception that day as I was avoiding getting robbed plus wanted to get out of there fast. I was more bothered about my gerbil than my bike but my bike was also needed to get away so me and my gerbil would be safe. It was 2011, the riots (Manchester /Salford) were on the news. As the police released images of looters, I remember hoping they wouldn't make a mistake and use my image because I had a bag on my bike (with the gerbilarium in), cycling away from where the riots were. Luckily they never did.

Yeah it was. I was in a mindset of try to avoid the rioters, but if need be, I'll have to run them over. I'm not usually like that. Lol Although, in the same area, I used to cycle to my sisters regularly, and almost everytime there would be two people waiting to try and grab my bicycle. I always got out the way just in time but I started to recognise them. So the last time they did it, I cycled as fast as I could (which was about 34 miles per hour), with no intent on stopping. They quickly dodged out of the way and never tried that again! Tbh I was hoping they'd get out if the way as I didn't really want to injure them, just teach them a lesson.
