One morning, I woke up, and found that my gerbils had basically created a hurricane in their cage! all the stuff was either buried up or chewed! It was kinda funny, I had to dig up everything!

Hee hee, sometimes they just go really crazy! Mine can destroy a cereal box in about 20 minutes if they're feeling up to it.

at the moment i have one of my gerbils (Pooky) in my old cage (one of theose silly critter trail X things ) and he does that every day. he would push things around, like his cocanut house and cewing block, and pile all the bedding up in one corner, leaving quite a bit of exposed plastic floor. at first i thought i would just leave it like that, but that didnt work. when ever he sees the plastic floor, he goes crazy, scratching the plastic like mad, at a very high speed, as if he wants OUT!!! so now whenever i find that hes done that, i put everything back to where it normaly goes. but he does it again!!! it sorta scary.

A timely reminder There have been a number of incidnets of heavy foos bowls being overturned by gerbils on a 'frenzy' . In one cas ea gberbil was trapped for nealry 2 days uneath a bowl which had been placed on the cage floor. It is recommeneded that food be scattered on the substrate to encourage natural foraging behavjour and prevent these accidents.
