I'm trying to read up on gerbil behaviour and genetics and my little black (possibly slate I'm not sure) gerbil is attacking my sleeves, the keyboard and my trousers!!! She's much better than her sister, Pepper, though. Pep almost fell off the table not so long ago!! I'm also getting two new gerbils this week - hopefully by friday - so does anyone have any nice unusual names for two females? Most likely a pale nutmeg/dove gerbil and a dark eyed honey

Or a possible Saffron. I didn't really see the gerbils much in the store....

Ohh!! and if you want more Raven stories, listen to this... Once upon a time ( ), Raven decided to have a scary adventure INSIDE the actual structure of the house!! See, I used to let them run about the loo ('cos there were no wires and no holes, none I could see anyway) and she squeezed into a small gap under the toilet and got away. I was so terrified I tore the entire piece of tile away and almost ripped this pipe out of the way. I was waiting for an hour by the hole, crying and trying to call her out. It was windy outside and I kept hearing this squeaky sound and I though she had hurt herself and cried even harder. Finally, I got a cardboard pipe and put a nut beside it and blew up the pipe to the hole, hoping the smell would draw her back. Luckily for me, it did! But I'm not proud of what happened. Not even my family know :S So shh!! And by the way, Raven and Pepper don't run around any room of the house anymore... except the hall on occasions, when ALL the doors are shut!!! And uhh... yeah. Learn from my mistake. Check the rooms over people. Don't do a Lauren-and-Raven mistake!

Good thinking, i'm glad you got her back. We let our hamsters out one time and one went missing. We thought surely it was dead and continued to look until we gave up. About a yr later my brother found the same hamster right outside our house. He was living in the tree, In our front yard for an entire yr and even survived the winter alone. He was healthy with a very long thick coat and generally looked good. But, things could have turned out worse so, I'll never let my gerbs run free.
Could you imagine the stories these lil animals have to tell?

hehehehe... I nearly lost my rat under the dish washer! Eric's folks designed their home, and his mom said there were no worries to have buddy running around the kitchen. Well, thank goodness for hind legs and a tail, as that's the only way I caught him! I was able to grab one leg, and a tail. But I love the bathroom story! lol And I'd have thought the bathroom would have been the safest place for a loose gerbil!

My boyfriend thought it was time to let the hamster Neyscha run around. I was against it as we hadn`t organised a special place for her. He told me to chill out and to stop being such a worry wort. He let her out in the whole house. After about 5 or 10 minutes I was wondering where she was. She had just dissapeared and I was mad at my boyfriend. We search everywhere for her, and then I thought `what if she could get inside the fridge and can`t get back out?!` On my hands and knees I was trying to check under the fridge when the furry critter popped out from the skirting board under the dishwasher at the other end of the kitchen. Lucky for us both she came straight to my hand and I put her straight back in her tank! She packed her cheeks full and wanted to get out again. She had found a new home and wanted to move in. After that she was only aloud to run in the lounge room. I never listened to my boyfriend again when it comes to my furry children. I`d rather be a worry wort and have healthy animals than too easy going and loosing them. I actually banned my boyfriend from taking her out co`s he just didn`t watch her. She had fallen on her head that many times I`m suprised that she lived to a ripe age of 2years and 3 months. ( she died in her sleep on my birthday ) My boyfriend even had her on the ironing table and she fell off. I was soooooo mad! Anyway he never bothered to give her fresh food or water. He said he loves animals and he had a cat, but I know that it was his mum and sister that looked after it. He has no idea from resonsibility. So after Xana, my second gold hamster passed away this month, I read up on gerbils and then bought Ra and Nashira. My boyfriend is in Costa Rica until next year and I haven`t told him about them. I had told him I was interested in some and he told me to really think about it. Oh well it`s not his problem and he doesn`t have to look after them. Hehehehehee He can be happy that I didn`t get rats co`s I know he doesn`t like them. Watch those gerbs!
