Thank you Karen! I flagged both of that users gerbil bath videos as "animal abuse", I suggest you do the same ;-)

is that safe? to put gerbils in water? Nope, its very traumatic for them. A sand bath is more than sufficient. These pet owners do not seem to know much or care much about their animals. :-\

Thank you! I really dont think that those sort of people should own pets if they think its funny to watch them suffer. poor little gerbs also, i forgot to say that there are a lot more, but i had to clean out my gerbs. if you search you will find loads. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNLg0fzbMs0&feature=related

I don't see how any of that is cruel. Want to see cruel? Look at ferret videos were people have them in tubs that they can't touch the ground and no way out. Or even in a pool. I don't see how any of them are "tramatised" they seem to have the same reaction as my rats. They are doing fine.
None of that is "suffering" in my oppinion. I've seen a lot worse and not everyone knows they take a "dust bath" and dust bath or not, every single pet that comes into this house, gets a bath. My gerbils will be getting a bath. We wash off the scent of their original home.
A little bit of water won't kill an animal. Yes, they are laughing, its cute, its funny and its brief. Now if they had the sink filled with water and was making them swim and kept pushing them back into the sink and laughing at it. THEN it would be cruel.

Water can be deadly to gerbils and traumatize them. No one should EVER give their gerbils a water bath. That's disgusting, abusive, and wrong. The people who did that are absolute idiots. Definitely abusive. I'm not going to even comment on that thing about your gerbils getting a bath.

Gerbils are not supposed to get wet, and bathing them is NOT good for them. One they can get a chill if not dried properly and it can KILL THEM. Never mind the stress.
Please do not post any more links to animal abuse, many of the readers are younger and it can be quick disturbing.

ive also heard hamsters can drown in very small amounts of water. So a bath would be very bad. Will send the animal abuse message to youtube too. Gerbils are desert creatures....why would anyone think to put them in water..?

not everyone knows they are desert animals That's true. But I think the people that should know this are the ones who own them, don't you agree? I don't think anybody here will disagree with me when I say that before getting a new pet, you cannot do enough research, for reasons just like what some of us saw on youtube.
