;D YEAY ;D We finally got the 50G split tank done, it's HUGE! Each gerbil gets at least a 15G tank floor space to themselves, but If i make a second level (which i'm planning) each side will be at least as big as a 20G. Cameras being silly, so I can't get any pictures yet. I used a design from RW, so that the divider can be removed with no problems. It is HEAVY, all made of steal.
Since the passing of his brother Blazer yesterday, Chevy's been a bit depressed (breaks me heart) so Instead of the pair I was going to put into the split, I have put Chevy & his son Dakota. I put their nests againts the screen, they did distroy them last night (i mean 'decotated'... lol) but this morning I find them both sleeping there beside one onther on each side of the divider. I'm hoping to evetually pair them so they can live together in a tank. Chevy is 2 and Dakota is 1. I think I will wait till tomorrow to start switching sides. Both gerbils have lived with others so hopefully they will become best of friends. Dakota was the one getting picked on when my boy's de-clanned this winter.

Today Chevy & Dakota seem very well, but Chevy had 2 bites in his tail I'll start side swapping them tomorrow and see how things go. Does anyone think that this split caging may be to stressful on Chevy?

It's been 2 weeks now. This week we started with introductions on neutral ground for a few mintues at a time. they actually seemed to do pretty well. Even sharing pumpkin seeds. Though i had noticed them 'side pushing' one another, but no real squabbles happened untill tonight. They tryed to get into a ball, i did seperate them, but trully for the time they were together, there is not a bite or scratch on either of them. Though after the whole thing Dakota decided to show me he was upset and bit me (not real bad). I'm starting to wonder if Jimmy, Chevy's other son would be a better match for his new companion. As jimmy is greasy and lonely How long does it take a pair of mature males to bond regularly? How long should I wait before saying it's not going to work?

Ok, I'll wait two months and then decide. I got my second big tank today, it's pretty much 2 10G tanks side by side, then just tall (I like my other one much better) but can't complain it was Free Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can have that one turned into a split for my other 2 boys.

Wow! Good job Andrea. Gotten any pictures taken? No. Our digital camera is on the fritz. It has no problem taking pictures, but for some reason it's decided not to be able to upload them anymore. Totally sucks.

Does it use cards? I use two cameras, one has SD cards, the other CF. I have an internal card reader in my PC and an external card reader for my laptop. The external one I also take into work when I take pictures that I need to use there. It plugs into the USB port and is an 8 in 1, ie it takes 8 types of media card. You can get 16 in 1s very cheaply.

Yes it does. I've had to bring it in and get a store to put my pictures on a disk b/c I can't upload them. I know nothing about these digital cameras (heck it took me a while to try adn find 'where' the card was hidden LOL). I will ask the B/F about it, a card reader thing sounds was easier.
