Howcome nobody commented on returning it to the petshop?
Gerbils forget eachother pretty fast. You return it to the petshop and if they even take it back, they'll put it back in the tank it came from and those gerbils will now attack it beause it smells like you, your house, your other gerbil..
It doesn't matter if they're litter mates..they'll attack it.

It doesn't matter if they're litter mates..they'll attack it. The gerbil returned was 5 weeks old, very small and young. The chance of it's littermates (that it had been away from for a day) attacking it is very low.
