Hey I just made a split tank setup for my gerbils and I was wondering if it is normal for them to attack eachother through the wire, they can't hurt eachother because the holes are small, but it is making them go crazy. Will they eventually stop attacking and just be okay about sharing the same tank.

Yeha, don't worry. It's normal, and it'll stop soon. Gerbils are just wondering what the heck is that gerbil.. doing in my tank And couple days later, when they have stopped that attacking, you can change their halves (still keeping those same beddings). But don't let together yet. And do this changing everyday. This may take time.. 2 months is not weird How old are those gerbs?

They are both 1 year old. I was also wondering if the split tank introduction method works if you have two gerbils on each side, so you are trying to make a clan of 4. Wouldn't the two gerbils that know eachother on one side get confused with the new smell and attack eacother.

Split cage introductions are for 1 on 1 gerbils intro's only, specially with older gerbils. And yes the different smells coudl cause problems within a clanned pair. Here is some information on split cage intros' - www.agsgerbils.org/Gerbil_Care_Handbook/adopt.html#splitwww.gerbils.co.uk/gerbils/intro.htm
