Gerbil Forum Virtual Show 2008 White Belly Class, Results at last!
I think this has been the biggest class so far, with eleven great entries from all over the world. The White Belly Class gives an opportunity to judge the depth of the colour of the back vs. the belly, as well as the other excellent characteristics we look for such as a long, thick, bushy tail, good firm build, almond shaped eyes that don't bulge, small neat ears that are slightly pointed and close to the head, long whiskers of the right colour, and an excellent coat condition.
Well let's cut to the chase!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Andrea's Malibu, a two year-old female Dark Eyed Honey is in great shape for her age. She has beautifully shaped bright eyes, good fur condition and a nice expression.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Alejandra's Argos, a thirteen month-old male Golden Argente has an amazing deep colour and a great demarkation line between back and belly. The pale ring around his eyes makes me wonder if he actually is a Topaz, though, which is amazing considering the depth of his colour. He has a good demarkation line between back and belly. His build is somewhat light for his age and he looks a bit cold, with his fur fluffed up and posture tucked in. His eyes are well shaped.
------------------------------------------------------------
Sofie's "Tyreengen's Soney," a nine month-old male Golden Argente has a lovely deep tone and a stunning demarkation line, in spite of his kinked tail. His build seems a bit long. His fur is in good condition.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Danielle's "Sgs Vega," a seventeen month-old male Golden Agouti has beautiful eyes and ears and is wonderfully photographed. His tail is slightly spiral and I would like to see a deeper colour. He has great expression!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Judit's "Haribo of Zarposz," an eleven month-old female Grey Agouti is bright and alert, with wonderful features such as whiskers, eyes and ears. Her coat is the perfect shade with no beige undertone, and good ticking. It is in great condition. Her tail appears to taper, with very little tuft, but her build is very good otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------
I just love the coat colour of Sofie's "Fiutassi's Honey," a twelve month-old female Dark Eyed Honey. She has wonderful warm, deep eyes of a good shape, great ears and whiskers, and a good firm build. Unfortunately her tail tapers with very little tuft, and a very slight spiral. A very pretty girl!
----------------------------------------------------------
Finally a beautiful tail tuft! Danielle's "Sgs Maize," a nine month-old male light Dark Eyed Honey has beautiful soft-looking fur, a compact but light build and good whiskers, eyes and ears. There are a couple of very faint molt lines behind his ears, but a lovely gerbil all around.
----------------------------------------------------------
Alejandra's Greg, a four month-old Grey Agouti is still very light in build which we can put down to his youth. He shows very dark ticking and a slight beige cast to his undercoat. His features are outstanding, and I would like to see him next year when he has bulked up a bit. He has a fabulous tail.
---------------------------------------------------------
Third Placement:
And now we come to the heavyweights! Vicky's Sandy, a thirteen month-old male Golden Argente has a beautiful deep and even tone with a wonderful demarkation line between top and bottom coat colours. He has excellent bulk and whiskers but his slightly rounded eyes, ears, and lack of a tuft kept him from doing better. A beautiful boy nevertheless!
--------------------------------------------------------
Second Placement:
What a treat to see such a beautiful Apricot. Judit's Hamilton is a sixteen month-old male with a very subtle coat colour, beautiful fur in great condition, great whiskers, ears and eyes, and a nice thick tail. Although there is a very slight spiral to the tail, he does show a nice little tuft there. Beautiful gerbil.
------------------------------------------------------
First Placement:
Vicky must know I'm a sucker for an unexpected eye shine. Vicky's Chip took first Place with his excellent build, straight, thick and bushy tail, and a coat in fine condition. Although nothing in particular stands out, the combination of very good qualities makes for an outstandingly beautiful gerbil. Congratulations.
