Hi Frank, Mine like grasshopers. The mealworms come in a small container. They usually have 50 in one container. If you don't use them fast enough, they turn in to bettles. Yucky . I mixed oats in with thier food and give it daily. Mine love carrots, almonds, walnuts, apples, and broccoli. I have yet to try pine nuts and linseeds.

lol Sweetie where do you get the grasshoppers from? I don't have any outside and Iv'e never seen them in stores..

I give my gerbils hamster food, brown bread, and some other things ( sorry but i don't now how to spell it in english )

Hey J, There are plenty outside here in South Carolina. My son Evan, is 4 and loves bugs!! I had asked previously on here what other forms of protien could we use. Some one said crickets so I thought hey my little guy already has a bug catcher full of grasshoppers can I use those. Sure enough I can. As a matter of fact, I (well actually Evan) hand fed them grasshoppers and crickets today!! They really love them. They scoff them up. I can't handle the crunching sound myself but they go crazy for them. I only give them one every couple of weeks. I will not be able to do that long since it is going to be too cold. i hav had 2 male gerbils 4 about 6 months i live in kent, about half an hour from london i keep my gerbils in a 3 foot tank they like apple tree branches and cardboard there house is a broken terracota pot i give them bedding and a medium depth sawdust flooring does any1 keep there gerbils in a shed / garage?? i do through the summer and they r both fine ;D
