I'll be buying a bag of 'rodent chow' from the petstore when I get my critters tonight.
However, I'm also looking for ideas for other stuff. Do they like strawberries? Lettuce? Tomatoes?
Also, I love the idea of these guys liking yogurt, cause due to kidney damage I get stuck buying large amounts of it. Is there such a thing as a yogurt NOT to give them?
How much yogurt should I give them? Flavored or non?

I have given my gerbils lettuce but they were not too thrilled about it. Never thought of yogurt.

Hi, Other threads about what you feed your gerbil and fruits and veggies might help. Yes, I have given mine yogurt. They love it. I have only given plain yogurt since the additives probably aren't that good for them. I put a little amount less than a teaspoonful on a little dish on the floor when I let them out. They usually eat it but they don't gorge. It's really cute watching them eat a soft food ;D Read the other threads. You would be amazed at what gerbils like!!

'Teasthingyful'. Giggle. I like that Well, I've added plain yogurt to my shopping listI wont let them sample the flavored stuff until I'm certain that they'll be okay with it. My cats have discovered that I'm up to something so the afternoon has been a game of 'I wanna see--NO get out of there--Bah gotta re-wash the tank'. I've also got berries and unsprayed corn cobs (Lots of organic-freak farmers in this area, yay) for them. I guess all I can do now is read the other boards and wait to see what my guys decide they like. :>

So true!! My boys prefer vegitables (carrots & broccoli) and my girls prefer fruits (blueberries, apples, pears). Remember to be sparing with them sincethey hold a higher water content and our little critters are desert creatures. If you see loose bowl movements, give less portions the next time.
