They like it. ;D I just have a 5lb container and I keep mixing in different brands and things. Even add oatmeal. Now I'm using Parrot food. It has a much bigger variety of nuts (pine, pineapple,,coconut)fruuts and vegetables. And it doesn't contain any stupid ass junk like budgie seeds that they don't eat. Not too heavy on the sunflower seeds either. I like the Prettybird and Kaytee Fiesta brands.. more variety and doesn't have any proccessed "nuggets" with artificial colors and junk. Downside: Slightly more expensive. Like $9 for a small bag. But ah well.

We tend to mix in some parrot mix into the reggie rat to give a few goodie. In moderation tho as the parrot food is full of naughty things like sunflower seeds ;D
Also a tip to stop/help moult lines give them a tiny amount of linseeds in there food it will make there coats shine, but be careful to much can make them greasy.

Good info. I have also been buying different stuff and mixing it in a big tub with the rest.
Does any one buy in bulk and then add mix it themselves? If so what do you buy, where do you get it, and what exactly is in the mix?
Thanks for the info.

I've just started mixing my own food. You can see the recipe I am using here: www.wagerbils.com/habitat.html (about 3/4 down) I made some changes, however. I left out the sunflower seeds and just feed some to the gerbils everyday. The fat gerbils don't get any . I used bran cereal crushed up instead of oat bran, and added red millet in addition to the white millet. I also left out rolled oats, dehydrated carrot, safflower and dehydrated apple. I added 1/2 part of raisins. Some of the stuff I bought at the regular grocery store, but most I got from an aviary. My locale horse feed store only sold 10 kg bags .
