My gerbils seem to be eating more than usual... I was wondering, is it possible that they're hoarding their food somewhere in the cage?? They seem to be eating even things they didn't use to like, like alfalfa pellets, so I thought maybe they're just hiding them somewhere.

It is possible! Gerbils do sometime storage their food. However my Mongolian gerbils do it less than my fat-tailed (duprasi) Gerbils.
You can search their tank and bedding, than you will know it!

I think it maybe a possibility. But nothing hoards like a cheesman and his sunflower seeds.. When I clean there tank out I always find a good stash of sunflower seeds in there bed.. I have had to only give them sunflower seeds once a week to force them to eat the ones they already have..

It is more common for my Mongolian gerbils that they bury their food dish!

Hey Devun,
Mine pick through the dish to get what they like then toss what they don't like out side the dish. They then proceed to bury the dish. This actually covers every thing they knocked out of the dish. So it looks like they are eating it but truely, they are picking, throwing, and burying.
Like Peter said, the only way to check is to pick through the bedding. Good luck.

Hey Devun, I just cleaned out all of the tanks ( all 4-yup it took over 2 hours). I put in a full dish of food and with in 5 minutes, the girls (only the girls) had thrown out 3/4 of thier food on to the bedding. The other gerbils eat out of the dish!! Go figure .
