My gerbs are extremely picky (not even thrilled with sunflower seeds!) but i keep trying new things for treats. They hated all the expensive treats that i bought for them. The only thing they all love is rolled oats (poridge oats) and walnuts. But i just tried a new thing this morning that seems to be popular -- small pieces of the freeze-dried strawberry that comes in the Kellogs Red Berries Special K cereal. I wouldn't feed the flakes though because they have added sugar.

I don't know what it is about oats (which seem terribly boring to me) but my girls will ignore everything else in their salad bowl and dig out every single oat as if it were the most delicious treasure in the world. They can't get enough of them!

I buy generic rolled oat cereal at the grocery store. I don't give them much of it since it has so little nutritional value (mainly fiber and iron,) but I eat it myself so it doesn't go to waste.
