How quickly do your gerbils become disinterested in certain foods? All three of my girls went absolutely crazy for oatmeal for a while and now they won't even sniff at it. The same has happened to flax seeds, dried raspberries, dried mango, sunflower seeds, almond slices, etc., etc., etc.
They seem to turn off of things so quickly -- i am running out of things to try! Anyone else having this problem?

I don't have this problem ;D, but maybe you can rotate! It might be possible that they like now a previous thing! And if not, if they don't want to eat it, than they just don't! It seems that they won't need it than. ;D

Just like kids..... they can eat mac & cheese breakfast, lunch, and dinner for weeks on end then they won't eat it for weeks!!
I agree that you should rotate treats and not give up. try other stuff like pine nuts, fruits, veggies, etc.

Maybe you're giving them treats too often! I know a hamster who won't take anything half the time because she gets a little yogert treat every day (by the way, it's the ONLY treat she'll take from you) But my lil gerbs are great with things. I tossed in 2 white pieces of popcorn into their tank today... and a few days ago they had 1/3 of a Ritz cracker. They don't like apples, however. What about bread? Mine like little pieces of stuff like that, but they don't get it every day.

A book I read said to take it away for a day or two and try again, but I haven't had a chance to test it.

Get some of those Kaytee Toppings. They have such a variety that my gerbs don't get bored at all.
