What about potato flakes? I was looking at my bunny food & that is listed in the ingredients. I was thinking about feeding some of my bunny food to my gerb.

Bunny food has antibiotics and hormones.
I don't think potato is okay for gerbils.

I'd like confirmation on the potato, and also if there's any difference between mashed and raw as far as gerbils are concerned.

I saw the food list stating that you shouldn't feed raw potato. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between raw, dehydrated, cooked... etc.
Also, I looked at my bunny food & the ingredients didn't really list anything that looked a lot like hormones or antibiotics (I will definately search further on this before even TRYING the food in my gerbil tank).
Has anyone done any research on the effects of the preservative Ethyoxyquin on gerbils? I've read the effects on dogs, cats & possible effects on hermit crabs & people... I was just curious. Currently I avoid the stuff.

My gerbils love raisins ( And that a treat not an everyday thing). Is that OK?

In my opinion, raisins as an occasional treat are good, but they mustn't be sulphured.

Mustard seeds are very spicy and bitter. I would not feed them to gerbils.

Well, a couple of mine love brocolli, but there are 2 girls who will remain nameless that just do not eat their greens ;D! Freddie loves anything he's given - I expect he's lived on hamster or mouse food all his life, so when I gave him a pea when I first brought him home he went bonkers for it! ;D
