i read in another post that since hamster food is a bit to fatty for gerbils, you can mix in some oats to make it less fatty. would somobody be able to tell me what kind of oats works best?
thanks, pooky

As long as you stay away from the pre-cooked minutes stuff, or the kind with flavores it should be ok any brand name. I get them in the Bulk section at the super market.

ok thanks for your info. my mom has some rolled oats, so i will use some of those. now, just one last question. does it matter if i just start poping them into the food bowl, or do i need to start with a small amount, and slowly work up to more at a time, letting them get used to it?
thanks

Gerbils have no problems with sudden changes in diet. In the wild they are opportunists, eating whatever is available. So making dietary alterations is no problem.
