Is giving your gerbils pumpkins seeds bad or good? bc i saw a pic on the halloween contest that someone had their gerbils in a pumpkin so i was like hmmm... i wonder well my gerbils liked it . what i wanna know is if my gerbils will get fat off of these seeds just like sunflowers? and if there are anyother health risks to pumpkins seeds.

Pumpkin seeds are good for gerbils, but just like Sunflowers to many can make them fat. I roats my pumpkin seeds in teh oven before giving them to the gerbils (I do not put anythiing on them).
I have a general rule for cardboard, if ti had food in it at one time, and is not waxy or metalic I give it to gerbils. I wouldn't see why a Pop Box wouldn't be ok for gerbies, just make sure it's clean.

Yeah the gerbils weren't in there very long because apparently they also like pumpkin as well as the seeds. The seeds are very much enjoyed I dried a whole lot out of the pumpkin as extra treats. They can't have too much though because they are fatty
EDIT by Mod: Bad typo.

I think they are all fairly fattening, that's why they need to be given in moderation. Gerbils in many ways are like us, we both love the food that's bad for us ;D.

I do both pumpkin seeds and the cardboard soda containers for my gerbils, they enjoy both...
Seeds should be given in moderation as treats IMHO.

My gerbils *looooooove* pumpkin seeds. Sterling will snatch them and run into his den. When Paws was around, they used to fight over them, they would talk, and squeak...
