Is there any type of nuts that they can't have that you get in the bags of mixed nuts you can buy at this time of year. I had a feeling there might be something wrong with almonds. Also so are pine kernels alright ( I'll eat them if they don't) Thanks

i give my gerbies pine kernels and they LOVE them! ;D but they're really fattening so only give them a couple over christmas and i think almonds are ok, but as far as i remember, my gerbies didn't really take a liking to them so i don't give them to my gerbs anymore but i'm not really sure if there are any nuts/seeds that you're not meant to give to your gerbies but mebbe someone else will know

As far as I know, all nuts that are safe for humans to eat are OK for gerbils. However, nuts that are at all salted should not be fed to gerbils because their salt content is too high for them. Only unsalted nuts are acceptable. You can give them just the nut meat or crack a whole nut in the shell and watch them work for their treat Just remember as Ash said, nuts are fattening and should only be given as a treat and in moderation. -Megan
