Hello everyone - can anyone tell me if there is a better water bottle to attach to a gerbilarium glass tank than a sippy. The girls seem to have a little trouble using it and they are also chewing the holder to bits. I'd prefer a standard ball bearing bottle, but how can it be attached to glass??? I have an overhanging rim on the tank so it's difficult to hang anything off it.

I used to have one of thost bottles, the suckers lasted less than 24 hours. I use sticky back velcro now.

yep, i agree with the above post, use about 2" of sticky back velcro to stick on the actual bottle, and then use 2"-4" of sticky backed velcro to stick to the tank and then put it at the desired height ;D

There's also the types that you hang straight down, and you can attach this with a wire over the edge of your tank, or to the top. I like them a lot because I find that the gerbils can't really get a good bite on the plastic of it because it's rounded and pretty durable. I can't find a picture at the moment, but if your curious, I can take a pic of mine. -Cait

You need to make a bottle guard yourself!!!! ;D that's the only way to keep a plastic bottle in a tank.

You can make a guard a few ways. One you can make a sort of sleeve out of metal cloth or chicken wire, but I find this to be a huge pain in the but (pain literally, I HATE the pointy egdges of the wire). Another option, tho it does take up space is to use a tin can, make a whole in the side, and put the spout through this. I don't think I have any pictures of mine like this, but I know someone on here has posted pictures. I"ll look around and see if I can find the thread.

Well, as it happens, I've just purchased a flat backed 8oz bottle from P@H that I have attached using the old suckers from the sippy bottle. Da Da !!!! Brilliant. At least it has a ball bearing spout as Bonnie was having a bit of trouble with the other one. It's perhaps a little big, but hey, it works. Thanks for the help everyone. P.S. what's a hermetic can Caroline
