Hello,
My husband bought some guinea pig food because there was not anything else(...) I have since bought some gerbil mix but can I use the guinea pig food as well or return it to the shop?
Many thanks.

do you have the nutritional value/ingredients for the gineapig food that was purchased?
I mix some rabbit food into my gerbil food, and some cat food, but the main staple of it is hamster/gerbil food. As a general (not true for every brand though) gerbil/hamster/mouse/rat is very close to the same thing, as it's all rodent food. Pigs aren't rodents. They're cavies. Closer related to rabbits and Chinchillas.
If your food isn't opened, might as well return it. If it's opened now, I'd say you could *probably* mix them together, but if your bag of guinea pig food is the same size of gerbil food, it'll probably take you 2 or 3 bags of gerbil food before the pig food is gone. Meaning, if I were doing it, I'd only mix 1 part Gpig food to 2 parts gerbil food. not a 50/50
