I am switching 2 gerbils from a Critter Trail 2 to either a 20 gallon long or a 29 gallon. they are the same size except for the dept. Which one?
P.S Did I mention 20 L is 10 dollars cheaper!

Biggest is better, but I think 2 gerbils would be perfectly content in a 20 gallon

Hey egirl, I did the same exact thing, a few months ago I transfered! My 2 are fine in a 10 gallon.

I guess I just wanted a little more space.

I would go with a 20 unless you plan on getting more friends for them.

Hi, egirl. I've used both 20Ls and a 29-gallon and I prefer the 20Ls. They're easier to reach into to play with your gerbils and easier to clean. One good point of a 29-gallon is that it's tall enough to add a shelf if you want. And a 29 might be better if you have gerbils who are jumpers. None of my gerbils have ever been jumpers, so 20Ls work fine for me.

I'd love to have a bigger tank! I'd naturally say the 29, just because it's bigger, and gives you the room to get a new gerbil later, or to breed, and have room.... it's perfect for adding levels, BUT the 20L is probably the better bet! It's shorter so you can reach in better, and plus, if you have too many levels, then you have to "scrounge" around to get a gerbil.
