For a male of that age I would recommend a pair of young male pups. Older males seem to love pups! If you can find a bonded pair of male pups, then split caging them will be easy.

I have two gerbils, a grey and a black one, the black one died, and the grey one is kinda mourning, what should I do? The grey one is like one or something, and is a female

Sorry to hear about your gerbil passing over the holidays - but gerbils can bond really well with a new gerbil (if done correctly) and your gerbil is still so young that I think a new friend would certainly be something to consider. So for your young female, I would suggest bonding her with a very young single female pup (preferably 6 weeks or younger) using the Split Tank Introduction procedure - or find a local breeder who can do the introduction for you. Ideally you wouldn't buy two young gerbils in your case (as females are less likely to bond long term in trios) and please don't take one young gerbil from an existing pair of gerbils and leave another gerbil alone. It isn't something you have to rush - and setting up a secure split tank and reading about the process can take time anyway. There are plenty of threads on here to help explain it or visit a page like this: What is a Split Tank. Have a good read around this forum and ask any questions along the way. Unfortunately, not all introductions are successful long term and so you always need to consider your options if your gerbils need to be housed apart at any point. Good luck!

I had 2 gerbils. One of them died. We were abroad but they were looked after by a friend. They had plenty of fod and water. We found the healthier one dead today when we came back. No injuries at all. He was a bit more than two years old. Is the other one gonna be fine or should we get him an other friend?

I have 2 gerbils (both brothers) one of them (the black one) died :-( and the white one was looking all over the tank for his brother. he has gotten less shiny because they always clean each other (looks like their fighting). eating less, vary lonely, sleeping more, going on his weal less, getting much skinner and colder (mite be because he's white). I think i'll just burry him next to my black and white hamster Rosy.
white one Simon, black one Theodore,<3 them very much.

Well i currently have one of my twins on her own as i lost her sister in December. But Cydney is doing fine on her own. Some gerbils do live happily on their own but some tend to get depressed, and upset. I would keep a close eye on her, take her out play with her and give her lots of TLC and see how she does. If she is dealing alright on her own i would keep it that way. She is 5 years old?! So possibly introducing 2 new gerbil pups might be a bit stressing on her if shes that old. Do what you think is best for her . x their to old to have a mate if you buy one the older one might killit so try and keepher happy.
