I heard that you can make some temporary cages using clear plastic totes. I need to make a couple for mice that will be staying with me a few days. What type of mesh is used to make the lids? I know someone has a webpage to show how to make it. I am running to the hardware store afterwork.

www.gerbilshows.co.ukif it's temporary then you can just bend the mesh over the top these make great tanks for both mice and gerbils and most of mine now live in tub cages look at the top cage (I must do a new pic, I know have three shelves of mainly tubs)

How are the water bottles mounted? I got the totes all ready for the mice. I am using 9 gallon totes for the little guys.

You can use a wire coat hanger or some water bottles come with a hanger already.

:)I still do not know what a tote is but i have a question concerning chewing ... i have a mexican hotsauce called 'belize heat' and its rated 4 starts for hottness. It has a warning label on it to not play with this sauce on the week or elderly cuz its RELE hot ....hahah my gerbils relly enjoy chewing carboard, and they always have a kleenex bow, and cardboard tube plus a safe wheel, sturdy earthenware food dish, 3" of aspen shavings, safe water bottle, and other twigs/branches scattered around there tank (10 with 5 females, mother and pups....6 weeks old, im selling now ). can i put a tiny bit of that hot sauce on there new igloo and other plastic toys to repel them...only a tad bit, like a drop per 1"-2" of plastic? i think it will work...right?

btw, the tank is 10 gallons, and i will/am selling 4 of the 5 female pups [keeping one for company with mom ], and also selling the baby sons with there daddy...lol ;D Also, what should i name the female ....she is a agouti pied, and her moms name is Maya [black/slate female]. The pups name that i gave her when i first saw her [6 weeks ago] was daisy and it stuck since, but i also like Dori, Fiona, Meggie, and Annie...wat do u think???

LOL Doom that looks so familiar! Here's my set-up: This is in my laundry room. The washer and dryer are along the other wall. I have a rolling office chair I sit in when I'm working on either laundry or gerbils.

Um I haven't counted lately (I think I'm in denial) but over 60. The numbers have been going down lately, though, as I have not had pups in a while and sales have picked up in Sept. I have 2 degus as well. They're in the large aquarium with cage topper on the far right in the lower pic.
