Some picture of my gerbil set up! Ever since I discovered bin cages that’s what I now prefer.. I think they are absolutely great! Tanks are ok.. But they are much heavier and harder to handle when it comes to cleaning it out. Bins on the other hand are really cheap to buy and so are the materials to build it. And you get much more room in them then any pet store sold cage and they are stackable. The gerbils are the bin on the top, the one below is my Syrian Hamster. The bin cage is ventilated on the top where I cut a hole out and lined it with a good mesh. I just love those silent spinners. I also provided them with an igloo that I pretty much use to place their food bowl on top uf to keep it free of bedding. The water bottle is hung high from the corner and I also provided and cardboard box for them to chew that doubles as a shelf for their sand bath.. Again keeping the sawdust from getting it in... And of course many toilet paper rolls they can chew! Here is a link to a couple articles on how to make a bin cage for anyone that is interested. www.hamstercentral.com/articles.htm

Thanks for sharing. The pictures are great. It looks like you are a housing pro!!
I also have used a plastic tub. They are easy to manipulate to make what ever situation you have work for you. I used mine for split caging. I put a wire fence divider in and screwed it to the sides to make sure they did not knock it down. You certainly can't screw in wire in a tank!!

That is pretty cool. I'd like to try something like that if I had any room. xD A couple of tubs can definately not fit in my room..or my living room or my basement or anywhere. xD Still pretty cool though.
