Does anyone use the clear pvc piping rather than the tubes available at the pet stores? We have several set-ups but I'm tired of all the chewing in those tubes, but my daughter enjoys watching them play in them - so then I hear about clear PVC piping. Wondering if anyone has any experience. By the way, I'm new here. We bought 2 gerbils from a pet store several weeks ago and then acquired 7 more yesterday from a local freecycler who had to get rid of them. I have the first two in my daughter's room since they are hers, but basic store-bought cages. The new ones, I had 4 in a 29 gallon tank, but they began beating up the male, so I pulled him out and put him in the bin he came with. Three others are in the cages they came with as well, but I plan on changing things around. If you'd like to see my set-ups, you can go see them at yahoo. They're listed in gerbils, new gerbils, and there may be more, I don't remember. Eventually, they will all be put in the same album. photos.yahoo.com/kzmom

I've never heard of clear PVC piping, but I have tanks with some random tubes in it, and they hardly chew the tubes. Do yours chew the tubes, or do they chew the plastic in the S.A.M. houses? I noticed some chewing in the Habitrail house.

I have a white PVC pipe in with my mice and they love it. PVC pipe won't hurt the gerbils. They will have fun in it.

I have PVC piping in my tanks and the gerbils love them. My gerbils have chewed them also . Thet do last a lot longer than other tubing. Congratulations on your new additions to the family.
